FYERS — How to Get Your API Access Token
Before you can use the FYERS API, you need to create an "app" on the FYERS API
dashboard and obtain an App ID and Secret Key. This
guide covers only that step.
Before You Start
FYERS' documentation distinguishes "Individual Apps" (for your own personal use — covered here) from "Third Party Apps" (for platform providers, which require contacting FYERS directly). This guide covers the Individual App path.
Step 1: Log in to the FYERS API dashboard
Go to myapi.fyers.in/dashboard and log in with your FYERS credentials.

Highlight the login form.
Step 2: Click "Create App"
FYERS' documentation lists these required details for an Individual App:
- App Name
- Redirect URL
- Webhook Details (optional)

Highlight the App Name and Redirect URL fields, and the permission template selector (Basic / Transactions Info / Order Placement / Market Data) mentioned in FYERS' documentation.
Step 3: Copy your App ID and Secret Key
Once the app is created, FYERS generates your App ID (used as client_id) and Secret Key (used as app_secret).

Mask the actual App ID/Secret before sharing — use dummy values like App ID: XXXXX-100.
What You Should Have Now
- App ID (also called
client_id) — generated when you create the app
- Secret Key (also called
app_secret) — generated when you create the app
FYERS' documentation separately describes a login flow that produces an
auth_code, which is then exchanged (using a SHA-256 hash of App ID +
Secret Key) for an access_token and refresh_token. That
exchange is outside the scope of this guide.
Important Limitations
- Rate limits (Standard/free plan): 10 requests/second, 200/minute, 100,000/day — per FYERS' official documentation.
- Prime (paid) plan: 10/second, 600/minute, 200,000/day — a paid subscription for higher limits.
- Auto-block: FYERS' documentation states a user is blocked for the rest of the day if the per-minute rate limit is exceeded more than 3 times.
- Refresh token: FYERS' documentation notes the refresh token is valid for 15 days, but also states it "will be discontinued" — check FYERS' current documentation for the latest status of this feature.
- Upcoming regulatory change: FYERS' documentation repeatedly notes that changes related to SEBI's retail algo trading regulations may take effect April 1, 2026 — check FYERS' site for how this affects API usage.
🔒 Security warning: FYERS' own documentation states: never share your
App Secret or access_token with anyone, and never store your App Secret in front-end
code. Never include real credentials in screenshots — use dummy values or mask them.
