Alice Blue — How to Get Your API Access Token
Before using Alice Blue's ANT API, you need to register and create an app to obtain an
App Key and API Secret. This guide covers only that step.
Before You Start
- Register as an Individual Trader (or Vendor) — Alice Blue's documentation describes both account types
Alice Blue's official documentation reviewed for this guide does not mention a static IP requirement or a specific subscription fee for API access — if either applies in your case, confirm directly on Alice Blue's site, as this guide only reflects what's in the documentation reviewed.
Step 1: Log in as an Individual Trader/Vendor
Go to a3.aliceblueonline.com and log in with your Individual Trader/Vendor credentials.

Highlight the login form.
Step 2: Go to "My Apps" and create a new app
Navigate to the My Apps section and click "Create New App". Complete all the mandatory fields, then click Save.

Step 3: Copy your App Key and API Secret
Once the application is created, an App Key (appKey) and API Secret
(apiSecret) are generated automatically.

Mask the actual values before sharing — use dummy values if illustrating this step.
What You Should Have Now
- App Key (
appKey, also referred to as App Code in places) — generated automatically when you create the app
- API Secret (
apiSecret) — generated automatically when you create the app
Alice Blue's documentation separately describes a login flow that produces an
authCode and userId, which are then combined with your API
Secret (as a SHA-256 checksum) to obtain a userSession for making API
calls. That exchange is a technical step beyond simply obtaining your App Key/API
Secret, and is outside the scope of this guide.
Important Limitations
- Confidentiality: Alice Blue's documentation explicitly states the App Code and API Secret "are confidential credentials" and must not be shared with anyone outside your organization.
- Key expiry: Alice Blue's documented error messages include "Your API key Expired. Please update your API key," confirming keys do expire, though the exact validity period is not stated in the documentation reviewed.
- Rate limits and static IP requirements were not found in the documentation pages reviewed for this guide — check Alice Blue's "Rates Limits" documentation page directly for current figures.
🔒 Security warning: Alice Blue's own documentation states your App
Code and API Secret are confidential — never share them with anyone outside your
organization. Never include real credentials in screenshots — use dummy values or
mask them.
